How the BIOPRESSADRIA WebGIS handles the data of the people who browse it.

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Data controller

The data controller is the Comune di Monfalcone, lead partner of the BIOPRESSADRIA project. To exercise the rights described below, or for any request concerning personal data, write to [email protected].

In short

The WebGIS can be browsed without registration and creates no account. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking. It collects no location, photographs or other personal data: it only processes a technical session cookie and the server's technical logs.

What data is processed

Your browser receives a technical session cookie, needed only for the site to work (request security and interface state): it is not used for profiling or advertising and expires when the browser closes or the session ends. The server also logs technical request data (IP address, page requested, date and time), processed on the basis of a legitimate interest in the security and correct operation of the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Third-party maps

The background maps are not ours: your browser fetches them directly from the servers of Esri (base cartography and satellite imagery), of OpenStreetMap and OpenSeaMap (nautical chart) and of Bing/Microsoft Virtual Earth. Those providers therefore receive the device IP address and the coordinates of the map tiles requested, from which the area being consulted can be inferred. Esri and Microsoft are based in the United States, so using their maps involves a transfer of data outside the European Union. Each provider handles this data under its own privacy policy.

How long it is kept

The session cookie is deleted when the browser closes or the session expires. The server's technical logs are kept for as long as fault diagnosis and security require, after which they are deleted.

Your rights

You may ask the controller for access to your data, and for its rectification, erasure or restriction, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Send requests to the contact details above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated, for instance if the features of the WebGIS or the providers involved change. The date at the top shows the last update.
